ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Minute: On deadly pollution

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Minute

Available for over a year

As many as one in six deaths globally can now be linked to pollution, according to a report in the Lancet. The problem is particularly acute in developing countries, with Bangladesh and Somalia having the highest number of pollution related deaths. Most of these deaths were caused by non-infectious diseases linked to pollution, such as heart disease, stroke and lung cancer. In the Indian city of Delhi, air toxicity sometimes reaches 15 times the acceptable level. ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Minute spoke to our correspondent there, Vineet Khare.
