Skopje - European capital of kitsch?

Big Boss Interview

Available for over a year

Macedonian capital Skopje has been changing its appearance - and not everyone is happy. The former government initiated a controversial urban renewal project seven years ago and it's still ongoing. For supporters, the makeover, which includes statues, buildings and renovations, was an attempt to refashion the centre and attract tourism. For others, it was a political scheme to leave an inappropriate cultural legacy - with a ballooning price tag. Our reporter Ivana Davidovic traveled to Skopje to find out what the controversy is all about. Photo credit: ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½
