ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Minute: On Alabama’s new senator

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Minute

Available for over a year

Doug Jones has been elected as senator, in the deeply conservative US state of Alabama. He becomes the first Democrat in the role for twenty five years. He beat the controversial Republican candidate, Roy Moore, by about one percent. His win is seen as a major blow to the Republican Party and President Trump. The high turnout of black voters is thought to be a major factor in the win. (Photo: Doug Jones speaks to supporters in Alabama before his election win, Credit: Justin Sullivan/Getty Images)
