"I used to look at beggars as the scourge of society"

Dot Davies

Available for over a year

Caller Carl in Newport talks about how it feels to have a loved one close to homelessness. Begging in Newport city centre could be banned under new proposals to be put before the city's council. Currently, aggressive begging is banned under a public space protection order (PSPO) but this in now being reviewed to curb anti social behaviour. This comes as Windsor council boss Simon Dudley was criticised after asking police to clear rough sleepers from town ahead of the Royal Wedding later this year. Dot asked - is 'banning begging' the best way to tackle homelessness?
