Eric Clapton chats with 6 Music Breakfast

Shaun Keaveny

Available for over a year

Eric Clapton chatted with 6 Music Breakfast about a new film of his life and career. It's called Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars. Clapton is not a man who gives that many interviews but his musical legacy is pretty staggering - a part of the British beat and then blues boom in the 60s as part of The Yardbirds, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and then forming Cream - and becoming regarded as one of the most talented guitarists to ever emerge from the UK - the only three-time- inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an 18-time Grammy Award winner The doc covers all that, and some pretty personal factors too - his often troubled private life and battle with drink and drugs - but also some of the amazing music that he's created - with contributions from B.B. KING, ROGER WATERS, DUANE ALLMAN, STEVE WINWOOD, CHARLOTTE MARTIN & JOHN MAYALL Eric spoke with Matt Everitt last week - to talk about the doc - and they covered his very first musical steps, his unwavering passion for the blues - something that was a total obsession for him - and specifically one moment in the film that documents a session he did in December 1967 for Aretha Franklin.
