World Update

Available for over a year

The Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai has returned to Pakistan for the first time since being shot by Taliban militants. Ms Yousafzai, now aged 20 and a vocal human rights activist, was shot in the head by a gunman for campaigning for female education in 2012. Dan Damon talked to Abdul Hai Kakar, a former ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Urdu journalist who in 2008 had asked her to write an online diary (under a pseudonym) about how difficult it was for girls to get an education in areas controlled by the Taliban, and who now counts her as a close friend.
