Robert Smith of The Cure is curating the 25th annual Meltdown Festival at London's Southbank Centre following in the footsteps of Patti Smith, David Bowie, Nick Cave and Guy Garvey amongst others. He's been given free reign to stage his own cultural festival - music, arts, theatre, spoken word, installations, dance, film...anything he likes. It all takes place across the Southbank Centre from 15-24 June and the line up includes: The Psychedelic Furs The Church Placebo The Libertines Manic Street Preachers The Anchoress Deftones Mogwai Nine Inch Nails My Bloody Valentine 65daysofstatic Kristin Hersh. MONO and many more including a night billed as CURÆTION-25, a special show from Robert himself that will close the festival 6 Music Breakfast's Matt Everitt spoke to Robert Smith in a world exclusive interview to chat about the 40th anniversary of The Cure, their epic three-hour sets live sets of recent years, whether they might play Glastonbury, the chances of new material from the band - and how he approached putting together the vast Meltdown line up.
