Meg Wolitzer: Writing a novel in the wake of #MeToo

Woman's Hour

Available for over a year

The Female Persuasion is the latest novel by best-selling author Meg Wolitzer. The story follows Greer Kadetsky - a shy college student who meets Faith Frank, a dazzlingly persuasive and charismatic activist who has been a pillar of the women's movement for decades. As Greer moves into her independent adult life, Faith becomes her mentor, someone she looks up to and respects, until she is forced re-evaluate. It is being described as “a feminist blockbuster” and Nicole Kidman has just bought the film rights. Jenni asks Meg Wolitzer about the timing of the novel in the wake of the #MeToo movement.
