We made 3.4 million meals for Puerto Rico's hurricane survivors

The Food Chain

Available for over a year

When Hurricane Maria devastated the island of Puerto Rico in September 2017, Michelin starred chef José Andrés didn't hesitate to act. He flew in, called on his local contacts, and together they rolled up their sleeves and immediately began cooking for the many hungry people. What followed was an unprecedented feat; a total of 3.4 million meals was prepared. He tells Emily Thomas how he did it and why they were able to act so quickly.
