Nicki and Rab: Life at the Sharp End

The Listening Project

Available for over a year

Retired Civil Engineer Rab met former bar manager Nicki at a New Year's Eve party in Penrith eighteen years ago and they've been friends ever since. They class themselves as normal people who just happen to have terminal cancer. At 39 Nicki is one of the youngest day patients at Penrith Hospice, and Rab is twenty three years her senior. Both have become familiar with the regime of appointments and treatments that are part of everyday life when you have cancer - but familiarity doesn't make the medicine go down any easier.
