Are there too many gambling adverts on TV?

Radio 4 in Four

Available for over a year

Football fans watching the World Cup on TV have been surprised and annoyed by the number of gambling adverts shown during the commercial breaks. In the games shown so far on ITV there have been six ad breaks for each football match and in 94% of them was a gambling advert. In some ad breaks there was more than one gambling advert. A cross-party group of MPs has recently called for gambling adverts to be banned during sporting events on TV. Like tobacco, they want adverts to carry health warnings. Peter White talks to Matt Zarb-Cousin, part of the Campaign for Fairer Gambling. First broadcast on You & Yours, 22 June 2018.
