ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Minute: On Barack Obama's Mandela Lecture

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Minute

Available for over a year

Barack Obama was chosen to deliver the 2018 Nelson Mandela lecture - to mark what would have been Nelson Mandela's 100th birthday. Some South Africans aren't happy. Part of this discomfort is a consequence of President Obama's role in the Libyan war, which deposed longstanding Mandela ally Muammar Gaddafi. Nelson Mandela had once declared, "those who feel irritated by our friendship with President Gaddafi can go jump in the pool". ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ southern Africa correspondent Nomsa Maseko has more.
