The Clyde and the Rising Tide of Commerce

Good Morning Scotland

Available for over a year

A competition to build a series of new frigates for the Royal Navy ran aground this week. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) said there had been a lack of what it called "compliant bids" to build the warships, which were expected to be constructed on the Clyde. Now there's to be a re-run of the competition, but does this mark the end of the Clyde's dominance of naval shipbuilding - and what next for the yards?
