Forty five years ago tonight a fire swept through the Summerland holiday destination in Douglas on the Isle of Man, killing 50 people. The futuristic leisure complex was one of the most important tourist destinations in the British Isles and was billed as the resort of the future. With thousands of people inside, a blaze was started by 3 young boys smoking in a disused part of the building.
