It's hard to imagine how ordinary Russians have negotiated the last hundred years from the fall of the Tsars, through the Boshevik revolution, the dictatorship of Stalin, the repressive soviet state under Kruschev and Brezhnev, and the collapse of the soviet empire, to the rise of Vladimir Putin. But a new book helps us to understand the how Russians survived in body and spirit, by telling the story of one family - the family of the author's wife. Irish Times former Moscow correspondent Conor O'Clery and his wife Zhanna spoke to Roisin McAuley.
