Women in Brazil were told to avoid getting pregnant when the Zika epidemic struck in 2015/16 because of the link with babies born with heads smaller than usual – or microcephaly. The number of Zika cases has now dropped dramatically – but now a new study in the United States highlights that some affected children in places like Puerto Rico have continued to develop problems with their brains and eyesight. ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Brazil’s correspondent Julia Carneiro has been to Recife, the Brazilian city that saw the highest number of cases, to see how the affected families are coping.
