One in seven students globally has used the services of so-called 'essay mills' according to a recent study by the University of Swansea. Writing services firms are banned in Australia, New Zealand and some parts of the United States. Now the heads of 45 universities and colleges in the UK have written to the government calling for a similar ban. Chris Day, vice-chancellor of Newcastle University, says essay mills help students to cheat. But a spokesman for the UK company All Answers claims a ban won't help solve the problem.
