Even today, Bill Maynard aged 93, still bumps into ex-railway workers in and about Swindon. The community and friendships built have lasted a lifetime. His role within the works meant that he got to meet many workers and tradesmen. Growing up, holidays were spent in St. Ives and Newquay.
