'It was so hard to get here'

The Breakfast Show

Available for over a year

You may remember that this time two years ago several Syrian families, who fled the civil war in their home country, came to the northwest to make a new life. Some settled in Derry, others went to Donegal. Fearas Manaa, who lost two brothers in the ongoing battle, came to Carndonagh with his wife and three children as part of the Refugee Resettlement Programme. Our reporter David Corrigan spoke to Fearas and his daughter Sedra, who translated for her father. The interview begins with Fearas outlining what their journey from Syria was like.
