With all the warnings about sugar consumption and obesity you might think that we’re reining back the amount of sweets and chocolate we eat. But, confectionery sales are booming worldwide, and were worth almost $200 billion last year. Sales of chocolate gobbled up more than half that. Elizabeth Hotson went to Cologne in Germany to visit the ISM sweets and snacks fair - the biggest of its kind in the world. And there she discovered how the Willy Wonkas of the 21st century are trying to get us to part with our cash.
