In 2018, a team from Yale University part-revived pig brains hours after they had been removed from the body. The study showed that by using a machine called BrainEx, the death of brain cells could not only be halted but actually restore brain connections. This has led researchers to speculate that this could lead to advancements in brain restoration. But to others it raises fundamental ethical questions.
