75th Anniversary of D-Day: A French couple's story

PM

Available for over a year

PM is marking the 75th anniversary of D-Day, June 6th 1944, by hearing experiences from Allied veterans about the part they played in liberating the Normandy Coast. But what was it like for civilians? Thérèse Le Chevalier lived in the village opposite Juno beach and was liberated that very first day of operation Overlord. But her husband, living in nearby Caen, saw his town razed to the ground by bombing. Emma Jane Kirby went to meet the couple in Angers where they now live.
