Can we save sharks from fishing fleets?

Science In Action

Available for over a year

A global project tracking sharks through the deep oceans has found they are increasingly facing danger from fishing fleets. Sharks used to be caught accidentally but now there is a well-established trade in shark meat and fins, which the researchers say is reducing their numbers. David Sims from the Marine Biological Association revealed the latest research to Roland Pease. (Image: Great white shark, Carcharodon carcharias. Credit: Science Photo Library.)
