Former Royal Navy Officer David Russell joined the forces in 1970 and rose to the rank of Commodore, working on board the UK's first Trident nuclear submarine. Colin Firth is playing David in 'Kursk: The Last Mission', a film following the true story of Britain's efforts - led by David - to recover a Russian submarine that sank after an on-board explosion.
