Since the beginning of October, demonstrators in Iraq have been taking part in protests which have left more than 300 people dead. Angered by the lack of jobs and provision of public services, thousands of people have taken to the streets. Many of those protesting keep their faces covered, alarmed by the security forces use of tear gas and live bullets. In the midst of all this, a new type of protest is emerging. Artists like Israa Saadi al Jabouri are taking to the streets not just to voice their feelings, but to paint them on the walls of buildings. Newsday's Tom Hagler spoke to Israa.
