Why less artificial light could help you sleep better

CrowdScience

Available for over a year

Journalist and podcaster Linda Geddes took part in an experiment with the University of Surrey where she and her whole family lived without any artificial light for several weeks in the winter. The results fit with larger studies in which less exposure to artificial light and more exposure to natural light during the day shifted participants’ body clocks, making them feel sleepier earlier in the evening and more alert in the morning.
