Domestic abuse victim was placed in psychiatric hospital and made homeless, ex-MP says

Annabel Amos

Available for over a year

We've heard a lot in recent times about the failings of social services and other support services across the county. The latest incident to raise it's head involves a woman who says she ended up on the streets of Northampton after being a victim of domestic abuse. Her case was taken up by the former Labour MP, Sally Keeble. Mrs Keeble says at one stage the woman was made homeless, ended up being placed at Berrywood Psychiatric Hospital and had her children returned to her abusive husband. The woman was only re-homed after Mrs Keeble let her stay in her own house for several months. Mrs Keeble has now complained to the police, county and borough councils over the way the woman was treated. The three authorities have all said they are aware of the case and are investigating.
