Covid-19: The serious symptoms found in children

Science In Action

Available for over a year

Acute effects in children of Covid-19 include a reddening of the skin and eyes and some also experience inflammation of major organs. New studies show that there is a wider spectrum of symptoms, and suggest this condition may be brought on by an extreme immune system response –with many children not showing the initial flu-like symptoms associated with adults. Clinicians Liz Whittaker and Shanna Kowlasky discuss the findings. Photo: A child being tested for Covid-19 in Australia, July 2020
