When Sharon Morgan began researching her family history she was distraught to discover how an ancestor, Betty, was enslaved in the United States when she was only nine years old. She also uncovered the identities of almost two dozen other members of her family and even moved house to ensure she could keep up her research. Sharon Leslie Morgan in Mississippi is the founder of Our Black Ancestry Foundation, which provides resources for African American genealogical research.
