America's richest and most populous state already mandates public companies to have at least one female director. Now, California has passed a new law to force bigger firms to employ more directors from under-represented backgrounds: either from a non-white racial or ethnic group, or who self-identify as LGBTQ+. The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s Mike Johnson asked Nicole Childers, executive producer of Marketplace Morning Report, about the likely impact of this new law in California and across the United States.
