Somerset is ending 2020 in tier 4 - the toughest level of coronavirus restrictions. People should stay at home, unless they have a "reasonable excuse" such as work or education to leave. All non-essential shops must close. Hairdressers and nail bars must close and gyms and swimming pools. People should not leave tier four areas and those that are "Clinically extremely vulnerable" are advised to stay at home "as much as possible". Bath and North East Somerset has moved into tier 3 whilst North Somerset is remaining in tier 3. Alison Bell is a public health consultant at Somerset County Council and she spoke to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Somerset’s Charlie Taylor about the rise of coronavirus cases in the county.
