Less than 150,000 pupils in England have started receiving tuition through the government’s National Tutoring Programme, almost a year since it was announced. The £350m scheme aimed to reach 250,000 of the most disadvantaged primary and secondary school students, to help them catch-up on learning they have lost during the pandemic. But less than half of those enrolled are eligible for Pupil Premium, the funding given to schools to help them support the poorest children.
