Could NFL shirt numbers be worth millions?

World Business Report

Available for over a year

The Kansas City Chiefs star quarter back, Patrick Mahomes, has joked that he may change his shirt number. It comes as a niche market is developing with established players ready to let a new member of the team have their number, but only if they pay for it. In some cases that transaction could be worth millions, if the jersey number is part of a player's marketing brand. The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s Russell Padmore asked the sports agent Leigh Steinberg if this lucrative market in swapping shirt numbers in the NFL could spread to other sports?
