Why does our memory fade?

World Business Report

Available for over a year

For many years scientists have been studying what information is retained in our memories. A team of researchers in the UK has revealed that we usually only preserve the main gist of an event, because our memories become less detailed over time, For example recalling a dinner with somebody years ago, you remember the central event, but perhaps not what you ordered from the menu. Professor Maria Wimber, from the University of Glasgow, is the lead author of the report and she has been telling the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s Russell Padmore about the key elements of the study.
