Small mercies: Andrew's grateful that Mum's dementia leaves her calm and untroubled, not in danger or distressed

Andrew Edwards

Available for over a year

It's a year since Mum had a big seizure which left her in hospital. At the time Andrew worried that she'd never come home again, but she rallied and left after almost a week. Since then she's been on anti-epilepsy medicines, but can't move under her own steam or speak (other than the odd word). However Andrew reflects on small mercies - how grateful he is that Mum's dementia leaves her calm and untroubled. Many people go wandering, behave inappropriately or are a danger to themselves or others. Mum and Me: The Dementia Diary was originally broadcast on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Leeds.
