The Taliban in Kabul: 'There is no government, there is no rule of law'

The Newsroom

Available for over a year

There are reports of an uneasy calm in Kabul as people wait for the next stage in the Taliban's takeover. A university lecturer in Kabul describes the scenes in the streets. He says the Taliban are visible everywhere, and despite their giving reassurances that people have no cause for concern, he has heard rumours of searches taking place and people being taken from their homes. He says people are most concerned about their fate once the foreign troops leave. "Anyone under the guise of the Taliban can do whatever they want to."
