Uganda has announced plans to place trackers on every vehicle in a bid to reduce crime. However, critics are worried the measures would be ineffective and open to abuse. They are particularly concerned over the use of such surveillance to spy on opponents of the government, says digital rights activist Dorothy Mukasa from the civil society organisation Unwanted Witness. Technology expert Bill Thompson discusses the plans. (Image: Motorcycle taxi in Kampala, Uganda, Credit: Getty Images.)
