Mum's confined to bed as her worsening dementia makes it hard for the carers to move her

Andrew Edwards

Available for over a year

Andrew's 85 year old Mum Carolyn has mixed dementia, Alzheimer's and vascular. In recent weeks her condition has worsened quite quickly. Because the carers were struggling to move her without hurting their backs, Mum's been in bed for more than a week. As she loses control over her body, Andrew is hoping that a fresh assessment by an occupational therapist will lead to new equipment. A hoist would allow Mum to be moved safely and bed rails would avoid the risk of her falling out of bed. Mum and Me: The Dementia Diary was originally broadcast on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Leeds.
