Jeffrey Dudgeon talks about his landmark case 40 years on

Good Morning Ulster

Available for over a year

Forty years ago today a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights changed lives for many people. Because it allowed them to openly live their lives without the fear of prosecution. And that's because up to that point it was illegal to be in a gay relationship in Northern Ireland. The case was Dudgeon versus the United Kingdom and tonight Belfast City Hall will be lit up in rainbow colours to mark that victory by the gay rights campaigner Jeff Dudgeon. Chris Buckler been speaking to Jeffrey Dudgeon for Good Morning Ulster and looking back through some of the archive of the reports from that time.
