The UK is in the midst of a maternity crisis. That's according to midwives who held protests across the country including in Victoria Square in Birmingham. They say a shortage of midwives is causing unnecessary suffering as women aren't receiving the support they need. The Royal College of Midwives also say that almost 60% of staff are considering leaving next year. Elsie Gayle, a midwife across Birmingham and the Black Country, says its the reason why infant and maternal mortality numbers are rising.
