Leicestershire man recognised by royalty for hiding 'inspirational' wooden pegs during lockdown

Jimmy Carpenter

Available for over a year

Alan Ayris has been hiding wooden pegs with inspirational messages written on them during lockdown. He thought people could be struggling, so dotted them around Whitwick woods. The former taxi driver told us that he’d struggled with his mental health after his house flooded in 2016. His exploits reached the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, who invited him to her Christmas Carol Concert at Westminster Abbey which celebrated pandemic heroes. ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Leicester’s Jimmy Carpenter caught up with Alan to find out more.
