Biggest Conservative revolt since Johnson became PM

Paul Salt

Available for over a year

Questions have been raised about Boris Johnson's authority as Prime Minister, after the biggest revolt by Conservative MPs since he entered Downing Street. Almost a hundred voted against the introduction of Covid passes in England, including Southport MP Damien Moore, with the measure passing only because of support from Labour. Labour Leader Sir Kier Starmer says he believes it was "national duty" to back the measures. Danny Rye is Associate Professor in Politics at Liverpool Hope University, he says Labour has helped Boris Johnson this time.
