'Covid records will be broken'

Paul Salt

Available for over a year

Boris Johnson has renewed calls for people to get a Covid booster jab... But during a Downing Street briefing last night he didn't say anything about further restrictions, saying that the right thing to do is stick to 'Plan B' measures. That's despite England's Chief Medical Officer warning in the same briefing that substantial numbers of Omicron patients would be going to hospital in the coming weeks. He said people should scale back their socialising in the run-up to Christmas. Yesterday the government announced the biggest number of daily Covid cases since the pandemic began, just over 78 thousand. Sefton's Director of Public Health, Margaret Jones explains why the boosters are so important.
