Katty Martinez is a top-scoring player for the women's Tigres team in Mexico. It has been announced taht she's being moved to another team, in a transfer with a male player in a part-swap deal - a first in Mexico's league system. She had been the most important player in the squad, having scored 95 goals for the team, and is the second top scorer in the league. Marianela Camelo, the director of content for Campeoanas MS (a digital platform that covers women's sports), says that the announcement has led to furious protests from the fans. Katty had six months left in her contract and there had been talk of her contract being extended. The fans are angry at what they see is a lack of respect to Katty and that this deal is prioritising the male team at the expense of the women's squad.
