Downing Street party: Johnson refuses to say whether he was there

Paul Salt

Available for over a year

Boris Johnson is refusing to say whether he attended a drinks gathering at Downing Street during the first lockdown of 2020 - in contravention of the Covid rules at that time. An email has emerged, sent by the prime minister's private secretary, asking dozens of staff to 'bring their own booze', to what were called 'socially-distanced drinks' in the Number 10 garden. Witnesses have confirmed the event took place and two of those who attended said they saw Boris Johnson and his wife there. ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Political Correspondent Matt Cole.
