Son Andrew talks emotionally about the mental impact that Mum's decline is taking on him

Andrew Edwards

Available for over a year

This week son Andrew discusses frankly the mental impact that his Mum's decline is having on him. When he gets back home after a day with Carolyn, he's been falling deeply asleep straight after eating. He calls it a 'retreat into sleep' but says "I think the mental toll this takes is probably something that needs talking about". It's the first time he's recorded a diary about his own mental health in terms of dealing with Mum's deterioration. He talks about missing his conversations with her, missing their trips out together and, above all, missing HER - even though she's physically present. Mum and Me: The Dementia Diary was originally broadcast on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Leeds.
