Fighting Irish is the story of Jamie's Irish boxing family who lived in Tile Hill, in Coventry, especially his uncle who caused controversy and raised questions of identity and belonging when he became an Irish boxing champion. Jamie's uncle Jarleth, a well known fighter in Coventry, became the youngest ever Irish light-heavyweight title; the play tells the story of the prejudice he encountered when we returned to Dublin in 1979to defend his title.
