Katie Martin

Available for over a year

One of the Falkland Islands’ eight politicians has told ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Solent that the island’s ‘grim’ relationship with Argentina continues to stand in the way of their future. Leona Roberts, a member of the island’s Legislative Assembly, the equivalent of an MP, says Argentina does everything it can to hold them back, despite their attempts to work with them. Leona was 10 when the country was invaded in 1982, and the island residents celebrate the 40th anniversary of their liberation is on Tuesday (14th June). And she says problem with their South Atlantic neighbour hasn’t gone away – despite what people may think.
