Calls for immediate action to prevent more deaths on country roads near Stansted Airport

Ben Fryer

Available for over a year

Essex residents say action is needed now to prevent any further deaths on country roads close to Stansted Airport. There have been two fatalities in the area within a week, one was Elsenham man - Richard Purvis who died on Hall Road – days before a woman died in a two vehicle collision on Parsonage Road. Jane Clark from Bambers Green contacted ѿý Essex to say she's frustrated that nothing has been done to stop these crashes. A spokesperson for Essex Highways said: “As part of our investigation, a full review of the highway and surrounding environment is undertaken to consider any potential highway-related contributory factors in the causation of the collision. “We also review the previous 10 years collision data within proximity to the incident location. This review is key to determine if there is a historic incidence of collisions. If a clear collision pattern or trend emerges in relation to these collisions, which can be treated by engineering measures, a ‘remedial scheme’ can be put forward to the Local Highways Panel for design and construction funding”
