ѿý Essex's Sonia Watson spoke to Steve, who got in touch with ѿý Essex about broken street lights and Karen Whybro, a womens safety campaigner. A spokesperson for Essex Highways said: “These lights are currently the responsibility of the developer of the area. Although we own these lights, we temporarily hand over the responsibility while the land is being developed. We will take back the maintenance of these lights once the development has been completed and we are satisfied that the lights are up to standard.” A Basildon Council spokesperson said: “This is a very difficult situation but unfortunately the lights in question are not the responsibility of Basildon Council. We will be visiting the site next week and are happy to meet Mr Cooper to help get the situation sorted.” Swan Housing says ' We can confirm we are responsible for the lights and would like to thank Mr Cooper for bringing this to our attention so we can arrange to have them fixed.
